Great Bend Jan 14th 1866 Dear Sir I thought I would write a few lines to you this evening and find out how you are situated in the line of hired help for the coming year: Mr. James Child has sold his farm in Leray and has bought him a small farm in the town of Champion which he can work himself and not keep hired help only this winter, so I thought I would like to go out west in the spring if circumstances would permit it. I would like to have gone out there last spring, but as I had not got money enough to go and not having received no letter from you I thought it best to stay with
