Philadelphia Oct the 9 1869 Dear children I now take my pen in hand to inform you how we are getting along here we received Climenas letter some time Ago I did not wright because we wanted to hear the result of the draft Night before last we received one from henry and one from thomas stating they were both Clear we was verry glad to hear such good news for we expected to hear that they were gone or had to pay I have had so mutch trouble about the draft that it has made me allmost down sick And I could not help it we all were verry mutch disapointed when henris leter was opend because he had not wrote more farther wanted to hear all about his cow and his crops and whether he sold his wheat and cheese before the prise went down or not joseph has not sold his butter he was waiting
