dont go I will have to take my place in the ranks and be put into some other Regt the remainder of my time and should I be killed or wounded or sicken or die my family in case I was a veteran would have that much more for their support Again the names of these veterans will stand high in every loyal heart and will be known as those men who stood by their flag to the end and should they fall at their post, the pride of their children would ever be in the thought that their lives faltered not in the hour of their contrys peril But why draw these pictures of future glory, you may ask, let me say that it would be glory enough for me should I live to see the day when I could take the little chaps on my knees and relate the scenes through which I have passed but I may not live
