before the first of April who have obligated themselves to go provided they get the bounty and, that has not allso all the recruits that came a year ago have signed the same obligation but I have my doubts about their getting to go north. Now the question with me is shall I go with the regt or shall I take my chances here and go home at the end of this present enlistment; I cant make up my mind which to do. Fame, money and my contrys good calles to go forward while the ties that bind my heart to loved ones at home say stop and return to them, could I have time to hear from letters that I have written I would be better prepared to decide, but I must decide soon. I will be on Patrol guard In the city tomorrow while you are at church. So there is the differance between your situation and mine Still I grumble not at my lot life is short and soon both of us will be done with the things of earth. Let us live so as to meet in . . .
