the opposite side of of the river and have removed their bridge. our Sharp Shooters are close to the bank on one side and theirs the other, pecking away at each other. just before dark last night our men got a battery into position and gave them a few shotts but received no reply, this morning I have heard no fireing. We are looking for orders to move either up into line or somewhere else. The works the rebs left here wer very strong and in a good position and would have been hard to climb but they have been forced to leave it without a hard strugle. It was done by a flank movement, a large part our army are now on the south side of the river if reports are correct you can find out about as much by reading the Hawk "Eye" as we know here except what happens in our own corps.
