it seemed [//] needful therefore the place him of my first house design
in front of the beam. LR. [fireplace?] his [right] left food resting on a [log] supported 
log mt st stump. [I] We imaginatively submerged
his foot in a convenient trout-retreat,
trout - rest - retreat in the stream and again over and over itself
tipping over it self [illegible] its hasty 
cascade to to Lake [illegible] more accessible to me and

Only the fisherman were suspect. The [illegible] backgrounds
chosen for the fishing pursuits
were too tame, too benign, too unconscious
for these venturesome
