-11- The sun is the original center of the mass and the planets are the original condensation at various points on the arms, which started small but have grown much larger. The satellites on the bodies revolving around the planets were originally small bodies smaller than the planets. Two bodies both revolving around the sun; if large enough the smaller may escape; if too small it will be captured by the larger and added to it; if neither of these two it will be controlled by the larger and have an orbit around the larger body. Satellites are those bodies which have been captured by the larger bodies so as to revolve around them. The planetisimal hypothesis began with a spiral nebula with these elements present, 1 - Occasional large knots on the arms to serve a nuclei for the planets. 2 - Smaller condensations to serve as the nuclei of asteroids 3 - Other small knots near to and controlled by the larger ones so as to form satellites 4 - Scattered matter or haze sufficient when gathered in to give the bodies of the solar system their mature size. 5 - A great central mass remaining to form the seen. The solar system bodies are not supposed to have gathered in the nebular haze by the force of gravity. They are supposed to have come together as these bodies pursued their different orbits. "It is assumed the the planetesimals had rather highly elliptical orbits arranged in a disk like form. Such orbits would be favorable for the meeting and union of the bodies following them." As the bodies grew their orbits became more eccentric depending of course always on the size of the body. The points in favor of the planetesimal hypothesis are,
