28 Feb 17 - 1936 The Cary Club were guests of Mrs W. S. Winter on Feb 17. Eleven members responded to Roll call with Patriotic Quotations. Mrs Leslie Phelps program as formerly claimed was not in Library, much to the regret of the Librarian, and another was substituted, entitled "The first First Lady Martha Washington" which was both interesting and romantic. Mrs Winter read a Patriotic Poem, "Rhoda Farraud, a tale of a womans knitting for the naked bleeding feet of the Veterans at Valley Forge" at the request of her husband, a Lieutenant at the front. Current events were given. Club adjourned. A most happy surpise was given by Carrie Prichert. Her friend Louise Rathbill sent to her lovely Japanese wafers and Valentine favors, which were served with hot tea to all present. This courtesy was in honor of Mrs Rathbill, a charter member, and in living memory by her daughter. Club voted to send the thanks and appreciation of its members, which was done by the [Secretary], Kathryn [Bluits].
