The Cary Club held its first meeting of the Fall, Monday September 21, 1936 at the home of Miss Alta Emerson, on the boulevard. A picnic luncheon was served to thirteen members, with Elva Emerson and Mrs. Addie Shumack as assisting hostesses. During the business meeting Mrs. Fernow gave the treasurers annual report, which showed a balance of $3.50 in the treasury. The following program was given; Mrs. Owen Fernow told of her automobile trip east. Mrs. A. E. Blinks gave a resume of her visit in Dallas, Texas and to the Texas Centenial; Mrs. Addie Shumack sketched the life of Paul Engle and read his tribute to the late Luther Brewer. The retiring president, Mrs. Irvin L. Ford presented the club gavel to Mrs. J. A. Beeson, the incoming president. Other officers installed were Mrs. Carrie Reichert, vice-president; Oca B. Price secretary; Alta Emerson, treasurer; Mrs. A. E. Blinks, press reporter. The club adjourned to meet in two weeks with Mrs. Griffith. Oca B. Price, sec.
