The Cary Club met Oct. 17, with Mrs E.W. Griffiths. Fifteen members responded to roll call with quotations from either Nathaniel Hawthorne or Edgar A. Guest. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mrs. Nilson told the club members that Mrs. Fernow had volunteered to help with the "History of the Cary Club" - The president assigned Mrs Beeson to find out about obtaining the service of Royal H. Holbrook for guest speaker for Founder's Day Mrs. Winter and Mrs. Bragg were appointed also on this committee. Mrs. Winnie Bliss read a paper, prepared for the afternoon by Mrs. E.W. Griffithe, on Nathaniel Hawthorne, colonial type of writing, and named the most outstanding of his stories. Mrs Beeson gave a short sketch of Edgar Guest's life - told of his widely read poetry which is syndicated in newspapers thro out the U.S. and read a number of his poems. Current events were discussed and the club adjourned to meet Nov. 7 with Mrs Mary McKean - Mabelle Beeson Sec'y
