April 3 - 1922. Board meeting of the Iowa League of Women Voters was called to order by Mrs. Dante M. Pierce at ten A.M. in State Head Quarters in the Shops building. Those present were Mrs. Pierce - Mrs. Fred Hunter - Mrs. Max Mayer - Mrs. James Devitt - Mrs. Rusty - Miss Fenton - Mrs. Tomlinson - Mrs. Mc Kine - Mrs. Knutson, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. H.S. Van Alstine. Secretaries report of Dec. 9 - 1921 board meeting read and approved. Report of Mrs. Evans chairman of the 3rd district was given and showed wholesome growth in interest and organization. Mrs. Knutson chairman of the 4th district gave an equally interesting report of progress as also did Mrs. Mc Kine report of the 5th district. Mrs. Passig - state treasurer gave a report covering the time from Nov. 21 1921 to April 2 1922. Which report is attached to this page. (secretary's file state office) Moved by Mrs. Devitt that Mrs. Passigs report be accepted. seconded. carried. Mrs Mayer gave the history of the new gavel presented by Mrs. Wulf of Floyd. Co. to the Iowa League of Women Voters. It seems the state chair of the Iowa League of Women Voters, having no gavel, use a vanity case to call the First Regional Conference to order and Mrs. Wulf upon her return home hastened to a farm where the father of Carrie Law Chapman Catt had planted a grove of cedar trees and secured a bough large enough to make two gavels. One was presented by the Floyd county League of Women Voters to Mrs. Catt and the other to the Iowa State League
