of the people are off the streets - only rare cares are about. It is quite different from Athens where the coming of night seemed to belch the entire population upon the streets. There isn't much to say about Geneva really unless it be that from it radiate the hopes of a permanent world peace. But when we see how natives will not co-operate for the good of us all, even that seem hopeless and futile and the future of the world is disparing. We are going to an exhibition by an artist whom we met here - he used to live in N.Y. and now lives in Florence. He has done a lot of things in the churches and libraries and museums of the bigger cities, so I am anxious to see his things. Both he and his wife are very lovely and have even given us an invitation to their home in Florence. Congratulations upon your graduation. By now the State Boards will be over and I hope that they were not too difficult and that you came through with colors flying. Also wish that Bob were finished with you - but she is near the end. What are your plans for the immediate future and then what have you in mind for later? Don't fail to let us know all details since we are always so interested. The next letter will go to AMD: for his birthday, so perhaps I won't write to mother until we get to Paris. This is also to be shared with her and the other of the family. Love always and good wishes Van and Eve
