NTS (Electrical) Univ. of Minn. Commissioning August 22, 1942 Admiral Downes Admiral Jacons on Inspection tour Me Photos - courtest of Minneapolis Star Journal Admiral Downes - Rear Admiral Jacobs - Gov. Stassen being piped aboard! Evelyn went to Minneapolis on a vacation and met Edw. Moore at a USO dance University of Minnesota - September 10, 1942. Graduates Students wind up training After four months of toil, the members of Company I are to receive their just reward tomorrow when the are graduates. The first graduation in N T S history will begin at 1630, in the spacious ball room of the Coffman Memorial Union. Eighty-three of the students will be rated Electrician's Mate Third Class, and eight will advance to Fireman Second Class. Dean Malcom M. Willey of the University will open the program and welcome men and guests. Commander Baer, Governor Stassen, and Captain E. A. Lofquist, Chief of Staff to the Commandant of the Ninth Naval District. will all give short addresses to the men of the graduating class. Captain Lofquist will present certificates to the students in the order of their standing in the class. Officers, Ship's Company, and remaining trainees extend best wishes
