Miss Evelyn Corrie 202 Independent Ave. Waterloo, Iowa Sgt R. K. Hayashi 39080558 HQ, USAFISPA, APO 502 %Postmaster San Francisco, Calif Aug. 30, 1942 Dear Evelyn: I imagine by this time you are back from your vacation in Chicago. I stopped in Chicago on my way to Jefferson Barracks Mo. It is very beautiful in the night. How did Chicago strike you, Evelyn? Did you get to take in all the sights? I hope that you were afforded all the opportunities to take in the town thoroughly. Be sure to relate me all your experiences there in general. The situation out here is the same as usual. On my dayoffs I either sleep, write letter or go to the beach. There’s always the beach even after work. Boy, the water is very warm. Sounds like paradise doesn’t it. In fact in some respects it is and then again it isn’t. Catch. I guess not. Dick
