To: Miss Evelyn Corrie Independent Ave Waterloo, Iowa. From: 39080558 Sgt. R. K. Hayashi - AC HQ, USAFISPA, APO502 % Postmaster San Francisco, Calif Aug. 12, 1943 Dear Evelyn: Received your letter dated July 5th. My address now is HQ, USAFISPA APO #502. Your letter really travelled all over before it got to yours truly. Rest assured I received it. Glad to know that you got your long awaited vacation. Out here it is vacation everyday. No fooling. We go swimming every day at the beach plus the lovely sunshine we enjoy daily. In the night we sleep with over 4 blankets which is pretty good. How's the weather in Iowa? I went to a stage play recently. The name of the play is "Brother Rat". This play succeeds "South Sea Scandals" which had a record run out here. The July Life Magazine had a nice write up about it. Perhaps you have seen it. Not much space left so Au Revoir Dick
