June 1st 1942 Dear Evelyn, Boy, was I lucky! Did I get sent to a nice cool spot like Colorado or California? No, I was among the elite to be sent to Mississippi. Here I have learned the meaning of the term "Scorched earth." It really is kinda warm around here and women -- Boy's Town would appear like an exclusive girls school, comparatively speaking.
