Frederick Biesterfelt Btry "B" 54th Bn. Bks. 1313 Camp Callan, California Dear Evelyn Once again my mind goes back home to the girl of my dreams. I never let a day pass by without thinking of you and the good times we have had together. It just doesn't seem possible that I am so far away from you. Now there is only one thing to look forward to & that is the day that I can see you again. Of all my friends, relatives, etc. you seem to be the only one that really matters. Sometimes after supper some of us fellows go for a walk along the ocean then I really do think of you. The moon and stars just do something to me maybe it is because I am so romantic, do you suppose? Well so much for that. As far as army life is concerned I can't tell you a great deal about it because we haven't done anything yet but realize that we are in the army. Tomorrow we will start in on our thirteenth weeks of basic training which will last until the 23th of Jan. After that they say we should at least look like soldiers. I rather doubt whether I will or not. However I do think that we have one of the best camps to do our training because the weather is good & food, clothing, and shelter are as good as anyone could ask for. They have different things for entertainment, such as shows, dances, etc. Our Battalion has a dance next Friday night. About a 150 girls from San Diego are
