and went down to get something to eat. After we had eaten we decided to go to a show. It was in the Theater that we first learned of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. They told us that all service men should report back to their camps immediately. And so we did. It was one sad departure. We knew that this time we were playing for keeps. When I got back to camp we were put on guard & stayed there for nearly two days. We only had about six hours sleep all told. The following Wed. they gave us about a 10 minute notice to pack our things and get ready to leave. We left Wednesday night and got here Sat. morning. I came out here broke & on the way I lost my stationary and stamps. I thought the best thing for me to do was to write to my folks and get some money. I borrowed a couple of stamp
