Sicily Image 193/209 Aug 5, 1943 Dearest Evelyn I hope that I can find time to finish this before it gets dark. We haven’t had much time for ourselves lately. Just work. I reckon it shouldn’t be too long though before we are able to have a few spare moments to call our own. Well we can now say in our letters that we are in Sicily. Haven’t seen much of any of the towns yet but the country is nothing to bragg about. Poorest roads of any that we’ve been in yet. Most of them are rock lined lanes with square corners. They raise a plenty of grapes here too. Don’t seem to be any wine around which makes it tough for some of the boys. The whole country seems to be covered with almond trees so we get plenty of nuts. Quite a few lemons here also. Reckon our mail service will go from bad to worse now that we are here. I got a couple of letters yesterday. First in a month. Yours of June 17th. Really was glad to hear from you and Thanks for the pictures. You still look as
