May 1942? Friday Night Dearest: I'm in a jam and you must help me. I have the heading on the California issue cut and I can't seem to get in the words: LITERARY NEWSETTE in the space I have left for them. It is only 2 1/4" wide by 3 1/2" high like this: (illustration) at the right hand side of the page; upper right corner, to be exact. So can you letter in this space so that it will look respectable? I've done it over three times and am getting progressively worse! I rather thought we might do it L N I E T W E S R E A T R T Y E but my attempts are too wobbly. So---S.O.S, partner. Trial 1.- awful 2 - putrid 3 - hope 4 - ? This is a toughie! Love, Willametta Don't work too hard, honey. Don't worry, my love, I never have yet. I may be busy but I'll never overwork.
