Sunday [June 28, 1942] Dearest: Before I forget, I must tell you what happened to me last week when we were at the cemetary. You didn't look at me or you'd have seen the tears welling up in my eyes. It seemed as if your mother's spirit was very present and was saying "Be good to my boy." And I wanted to say "I'll try, because I love him very much" and all the time I wasn't being nice to you at all. - XX - I want to tell you something I learned by accident
