Sparta Ill March 3rd 1855 Dear Uncle I have set down to write you a few lines as there is an opportunity of sending it Monday with Mr Moreland to let you that we are all enjoying tolerable good health at present with the exception of bad colds Father has been sick but he is on the mend now he was taken sick the saturday before Christmas and he lay bad for about four weeks that the docter had no hopes of hime ever surviving he was taken first with the plurisy but that did not linger long until his old disease took a fresh hold he has got so he can walk around some And I expect in a week or two he and James McLuiston will start down south for to see if it will do them any good James Mc Luiston has been sick for some time his disease has been something the same of Father's. It is generally pretty healthy about here, There was a death in town yesterday of the small for it was a child of Joesph Mc Heny's - Uncle Henry Clendnin has another plow-boy or harness maker or whatever you please to him he was born the 26 of February Edunt is on the mend.
