Oxford, Ohio Jan. 22nd 1862. Mr. J. B. McDill; Dear Brother: Yours of the 15th inst, containing five dollars (for which I am very much obliged) came to hand yesterday, and I hasten to acknowledge the receipt of it. Treasury notes pass here very well. I was nearly out of money a few weeks ago, but I received a little from Washington (house rent) and Father sent me some, so that I think I will get along for a month or two. I am paying Emma's way, is the reason it takes so much to do me. College commenced last Monday again. I spent nearly three weeks of my vacation up at Xenia. I has a first rate visit. The friends up there are all well except Gavin Reid's wife. She is going down quite rapidly with
