we have had a very pleasant winter and evry indication of an early Spring a few more days like the past we may commence seeding. We have a very flourshing congration of about forty members and an able preacher by name of J W Collins we all think a great deal of him, Well Joseph the prospect of our country looks dark and gloomy yet we are forming ourselves into what we call Union Leagues for the strenthing of our cause for the support of our government the present Adminstration we have a few Southern Sympathiser up here but they are very few, our John has gone to the war and was at Murphaborough Tennesee when we last heard from him that was last Saturday he went down to Illinois last September and goined the 22nd Regt of Ill vols his old comrades poor John Mark
