Friday October 31 Clear & bright, but found ground besprinkled with snow this morn - & Mer only 20°+ at 7 o,c, not quite reaching 30°+ during the day. Took me quite awhile to get warm enough to leave the fire to do much, & only fire in kitchen, pipe not come yet, or such as we want to put up in S-room, Lena did ironing & went over to see Charlotte, she went down town with me in P.M. Lena & self took supper alone E_ at C_P_ church in eve have chicken pie. November 1 Still quite cool, & snow falling by spells throughout the day, Mer- reached 32°+ but not remaining there long. Quite breezey. spent day much as usual, tho' still have to make sitting-room of kitchen, had some repairing to do of course, I was in at Rose's awhile in P.M. Lena down town meanwhile, & out again an hour or so in eve. (?) Maz Stewart has a son came this P.M.
