The Mound City running so clost under these batteris is aground. a regiment of infantry is burried down to board her all her starboard guns are loaded with canister and is discharge of her broadside sets her adrift again. but the canister does terrible work on the shore, On the 13 of April Grants forces had left Milikens bend and marching through swamps and wading baouys and building corduroy roads for Artillery & wagons performed a feet in moving an army that the confederats never dreamed of. And on the morning of the 29" of April Grants Army made its appearence at Hard-times a landing.
