Bloomfield Iowa March 19th 1858, Miss Clara:- This letter initiates a Correspondence between us which will lead, for all I know, as Byron says, - "to god knows where"! But whilst it may be true that I do not know exactly what its eventuation may be, yet I think that I am not so completely in the dark as my deceased friend, Lord Byron, was when he made the above remark.
