[October, 1943] [postmarked Oct 11] Sunday Hello, dearest: A pleasant surprise! Sunday afternoon off! So, naturally, I spend it writing to you. Yesterday afternoon I was in Boise. That is about 45 miles from here and the nearest town of any account. In fact it is the biggest town (40,000) in Idaho and capitol of the state. It is a rather nice town situated at the foot of the mountains. Water is brought in by irrigation canals and there are plenty of trees. There is Main Street going
