-2 say anything definite in it or even hint that I'd been away but I was sure you'd understand it. I wrote a "farewell" letter to you..... not that I ever expect to say farewell to you. But somehow there seemed to be much to say and yet all I wrote was that I loved you through whatever might come and wanted to send a last reassurance of it. Then I took it with me (I don't know how I thought you'd even get it) and in the exhuberance or victory I tore it up and threw it into the sea promising myself I should tell you personally. -
