Sunday 21 March 1943 My dearest: The first day of Spring! My god, but I'd like to be spending it up there with you. It's beautiful out ... sunny blue sky; air clear; warm, yet not hot out. All along the foundation of the barrack little white or purple lily-like flowers are blooming, scattered amongst them are the yellow sheep's sour and a deep purple blooming member of the mint family. We do not have lawns here or any vegetation save the flowers I mentioned. The other day I was out on the flight line and there was quite a patch of clover
