Des Moines Sept, 4th 1862 Being satisfied that our fellow citizen J. M. Griffiths is eminently qualified for the position of a Field officer in one of the Regiments in course of organization, and believing that the interest of the service would be promoted by his appointment as Lt. Colonel - We take pleasure in indorsing him to you as a Gentleman of energy and business qualifications fited to discharge the responsible duties of the position named.
