old and a widow she is she is a good sick there is four brothers of us two married and tow single my older brother is gone to oregon and my two Single Brothers and myself one in the 15th Iowa and the other two in the 29th now i apeal to you in the name of humaity to help me to a discharge for i cant stand to read the sufrings of my family and my old mother and keep up my spirits Such news troubles me i will send you a letter that was writen on the second of april and as there is three of us in the Field i ask to have one relieved i did not think the war would last so long, i new my wife had the consuption when i enlisted but i thought was near a close and i could go a year as well as not but when i went my younger brother he went also which leaves Mother entirely alone Mother writes to us that what money we send home wont keep them in clothing under circumstances one of us ought to be at home and i hope god you will assist me in geting to my sufering family i have a wife and six children and my old mother your servant and not a a copperhead Dominick Heagney Direct your answer to Dominick Heagney 29th Iowa volunteers Co A
