N. Dickey, desiring to be discharged from V.R.C. Washington D. C. June the 12th /65 Govener Stone Dear Sir. I take the present oppertunity of writting to you. (please excuse me for not puting in any of your first name for I have forgotten it) I wish to acquaint you with my position in the army and see if you can help me any. I enlisted one year ago last Febuary for the 28th Iowa Infantry Co. K. under Lieutanant Zalinger. from Newton Jasper County Iowa. I went with him to new Orleans. and prety soon after we arrived there I took the measles and was taken to the Marine Hospital where I lay from the 25th of March til the 4th of April
