we went over to the tree and every one of my dolls got a present and all got more than one I think and we three girls got presents to. Nov. 20, 1881 - I went up to Wagners yesterday to thake a crayon lesson and I was going to begin [Forica?] picture (our poor, dear, little, doggie, that is dead) but my teacher Miss Paterson thinks she will go away week after next, so she argued that I ought to make it nearly life size, and that I would only get the outline made, put to tell the truth I think she woud have made me if she could finish a picture that I had nearly finished, because she wanted to make me take lessons as long as I possibly could, and mamma wanted me to finish it at home I guess she thought I would spoil it, but I do not see the use of always taking lessons and then never be able to do any thing at home, so I came home and did not take any lesson and nearly froze coming home therefore did not begin Fozies picture but prehaps she Miss Paterson will come back next summer and then prehaps I will take it if I do not find a better teacher in the meanwhile which would not be hard to find.
