[illegible] which is [really?] an invitation, but Mr. Ball had as bad [my?] first so I am sorry to say I could not [illeg.] Mamma and papa have come so [illegible] Jan. 18, Yesterday I painted in the forenoon and in the afternoon went to the dress-maker and Allie [Glargon?] White. She was married the evening before which was quite a surprise to us all. I guess she had not fully decided to be married so soon until noon of that day. She was married in her white mull dress with flowers. Mr. White was so sick he was married in his dressing gown and slippers. I am afraid he will not live very long. But she was married with the understanding that prephaps he would not live long. If he is able they will start for the south next week. Aunt Sade told me this afternoon they did not intend to be married until April when they expected to be married in church and then [illegible] all over the east. Poor girl I am afraid she will be a widow soon. Miss Stewart was down this morning, before we
