Feb. 2. /84. I went to the dance as I expected to. I wore my pink satin which every one thought was lovely. He did not say so but I think [he must have crossed out] Al [Holt?] must have thought so, for he danced 9 dances with me. We went over to Slorum + Chilcote restaurant afterwards, where we had good things to eat and lots of fun. Mr. [Glaige?] left my box there that had my slippers and so on in it. It struck 1 o'clock just after I got into bed. While there I got Warren Moore to introduce us to Mr. Shayer, the leader of the band. We engaged for the 7th of March for our Leap year Dance. I caught cold at the fire and then caught a little additional cold at the dance and so I have been quite sick ever since. I had a letter from May Walton the other day and afterwards a formal invitation to their (her sisters and hers) wedding reception the 7th of Feb. I worte a note to her yesterday saying I did not believe I
