Willametta Turnepseed 202 Roseland East Springfield, Ohio -2 Vondy writes that she may come down to Springfield Oct. 9th. (You come, too!) An anonymous paper arrived today; called "The Outlook" it's all about the results of the United election of directors; one of them is described as a "corn dock-tor who hides out and works among Negroes in their New York Harlem Section. After serving 4 1/2 years in State's Prison as a Sex Maniac. - Of a 5 year sentence, the Judge who sentenced him regretted that it could not be for life, etc." Then it names him and gives his prison number. They can't blame this on Hadley. Between us: some of the type matches some Heins used in "The Eternal Feminine", but that doesn't prove it. Papers refer to the day of Germany's surrender as V-Day, but as the war will only be half-won I prefer TIME's X-Day (x is the unknown quantity). The Army says they've selected Oct. 1st as the tentative date. Looks as if they agree with me that it'll be over by my birthday; and do you know what? Japan will flop for your birthday! Nice birthday presents!!
