12 B, E and H, arived in Reading they were met at the upper station, by a committee of Citizens with the Ringgold Band and escorted to Lauer's garden, 3d and Chestnut sts., where those who drank beer were treated, after which the parade was dismissed on Penn square, Some of the Chester County boys having gone directly home without stopping in Reading. My time was spent in visiting friends, and attending numerous parties, gotten up by the young people, of the neighborhood, in honor of John Hendricks and myself. Our treatment was everything that could have been wished for. For some reason I seemed to have the "Lion's share" of the honors every where - possibly it was on account of my rank.
