35 Chancelorsville, Va. Sunday, May 8th 1864 Arived here about six oclock this morning, when we issued rations to 560 men. Orders have been received to be ready to move at an hour's notice. Monday, May 9th Left Chancelorsville at six oclock this morning, arived at Ny River about noon when we became engaged with the Rebels and after several unsuccessful attemps our regiment charged on a knowl, behind which the enemy were posted, and drove them out, During the engagement which lasted for an hour or more, we lost five killed viz - Simon R Riegel, Private Co. A.
