80 Front of Petersburg, Va. Tuesday July 19" 1864 I sent D. Trautman back to Eckel today, being sufficiently improved now to look after the duties of my office. Wednesday 20th Col. Overton returned Wm Taylor to his Company this morning. I am greatly indebted to Taylor and Trautman, and the Cook corps and all the officers of the regiment for their kind attention during the time I sick. Part of the time the doctor had very little hope of my recovery. Thursday 21st. Loaned Lieut. John A Snyder, my belt and Revolver, to be returned Sunday June 24th. Heavy cannonading again this afternoon.
