110 Front of Petersburg, Va., (Left flank) Friday. Sept 9th 1864 The Brigade Commissary proposed to issue 6 lbs Coffee per 100 men instead of 8 lbs and in lieu of the two pounds give us the money value in vegetables, after consultation with Colonel Overton I accepted the proposition. Saturday 10th Orders to move at 10 oclock this morning were received, and after we had marched about 800 yards again encamped. Eckel brought up clothing which were issued to the men. I drew a pair of Pantaloons and two pairs of stockings. The work of building fortifications in our front is progressing rapidly
