118 Near the Peeble House, Va., Friday, September 30th 1864. Reveille was beaten this morning at 4 oclock. Lieutenant Colonel Overton was mustered out at One oclock A.M. Through some kink of the Mustering officer Overton was not permitted to be mustered out with the others yesterday, so he determined to be mustered out immediately after midnight. We waited until 12 oclock and then went to Division Head Quarters and after being mustered out returned and remained with me until day light when he started for home via City Point.
