176 Fort McGilvery, Va. Tuesday, Jan'y 31, 1865 On duty as Officer of the Guard. During the Artillery duel today ten men were slightly wounded, in our fort, and Eight shelter tents of Company "F" were so badly torn as to be utterly worthless. Wednesday, February 1st Captain Wm. H Talford, of Company G, who was captured at Spottsylvania, May 12th, 1864, returned to the regiment this morning. Was detailed this morning to serve on Court martial, to try private Michael Boyer, of Company H., for throwing an empty shell, as he thought, down the chimney of a bombproof when a number of men were inside.
