214 Kulp's Hill, Gettysburg, Pa. Tuesday, July 4. 1865 The Parade started at nine oclock this morning, General Geary, Chief Marshall, Col. Wm H. Telford and Capt. Foster, of the 50th acting as Aids de Camp on his staff. Marched through the town to the Cemetery where the ceremony of laying the corner stone for the monument was held, according to the ritual of the Free Masons. General O.O. Howard delivered the Oration, and remarks were made by several other officers. Wednesday 5th The regiment remained in camp, on Kulp's Hill all day resting, however, some of the boys were in town and drank rather freely, the result being a fight in a saloon, during which Liuetenant Herring, of Co. A. was pretty badly used up by Geo. Hagen, private of Co. B. Lieutenant
