218 Camp East of Capitol Washington, D.C. Thursday, July 20,1865 General Burnside visited the regiment today - Regiment still on guard duty at the Railroad station. Friday 21. Regiment returned to camp this evening. Saturday 22 Brigade Inspection. Dress parade this evening. Sunday 23 Some of the Officers were out of camp last night and while under the influence of liquor got into trouble with a Naval officers family. The matter was reported to Col. Schwenk this morning and after officers call had been beaten and all assembled in front of the Colonel's tent the Naval officer's wife came out and picked out the guilty parties. The Col. directed me to take down their names.
