May, FRIDAY, 27, 1864. arose about daylight opened with our Artillery 15 min. before 6; [Scattering?] fire all day, had Considerable skirmishing all day, was roused once during the night by musketry SATURDAY, 28. arose about 4 1/2 am. it was a very beautiful morning. There was a scattering fire kept up on both sides all day we had a detail of 60 men to work on rifle pits all night SUNDAY, 29. arose @ daylight & built rifle pits in front of our line our Cook brought us a Canteen of whiskey. The Rebs attacked us in the night & were repulsed had skirmishing all day
