Camp Crittenden, at Elliotts Mills Ky. Sept 16th 1861 My Dear Darling Wife: We just arrived here and whilst we are waiting for our teams to arrive I thought I could spend a few moments profitably by writing to my dear dear wife. I received your letter which you finished on the 6th this morning, just as we were starting on our march. It did my very soul good. God love you. How I would [bite?] you were it in my power. I am so glad the [name?] girls are not going to stay with you. God is blessing you. You can now enjoy what I wished you
