[Written in margin:] Tell Maud to kiss Jimmie for PaPa Birds Point, Mo Sept 28th 1861 My dear darling Wife:- This is a very cool bright morning and I have just finished my breakfast & now, bless your dear heart, I will write you an other letter. I would rather write you than to do anything else in the world except to see you, and be blessed by you once more in life. I received your letter of the 20th enclosing one from father & mother yesterday. O your letter was such a good one. What a comfort to me to get them. I have now received one per day for 3 days past during which time I have been so cheerful and happy, though I have never been discontented or sad but the one time I wrote you of. Bless your dear sweet soul, Clara I know I never did love you with such devotedness in all my life. Darling, I adore you my own true noble souled wife, Bless you. I will, darling come home if I get unfit for duty, but I do not look for anything of the kind at all. I am gaining strength & you must have no fears about me at all. You ask me if we would not enjoy ourselves if I were at home. Oh wouldn &'t we Bless your sweet heart, we know
