How mercyful God is to us as a people. now I think Longstreet cannot get away whole, and desertion will multiply enormously. O it is all rotten. The [Confederacy?] is gasping its last. I did not get any letter yesterday. Bro [Audas?] gets about three to my one here lately. Before I got the most - guess they will come after awhile though. It is a warm day and raining. very comfortable day to stay in quarters and write and study. I would love to read a fresh letter from you so much. The last I had was written on the 8th inst, just 20 days ago. We are having a large
