Turkey cooked for dinner. I told the [blackee?] who dressed it, to clean it and put the legs in side of it as is common you know. So he went to work and dressed it and then cut the legs off and poked them inside of the turkey. Paddy is not with me now, broke up our mess in order to let him and Lock start an officers mess. They ran it a while and fell out, and fought, and broke up. So Paddy went to cooking for my sutler. He was not willing to cook for any one but me, and I would not go to the expense of starting a mess all by myself. As it is, we have not a very good cook but will have a good one in a few days. I get the "Northwestern Advocate" regularly. It is a very fine paper. Send me a "Guard" once in a while. It is not necessary to send it regularly, but I would like to see it occasionally. Capt Duckworth received the one of the 14th several days since. It was pretty sarcastic on Dunlavy. Not any to much so though, considering the way he acts. I am not surprised that Genl Tuttle has resigned. He can be spared without any
